Friday evening December 8th of this year, i volunteered to work for a non-profit organization known as the Arc of Jackson County. This organization helps individuals with special needs or disabilities. they have helped find housing, employment and have a chance to live in a world that is not always fitting for them.
Arc Of Jackson County representatives, caregivers and clients arrive for the christmas party to begin.
I walked around the venue for a while to get candids of people enjoying the party.

This girl was so sweet and enthusiastic for the camera, smiling every chance she got and was truly enjoying herself overall.
Stefani Spall With her husband Chris, Stefani is the program manager for The Arc and does so much behind the scenes for the organization.

Bill Elmore Board Member for the Arc and the evenings Emcee Begins the award ceremony. Awards were handed out for caregiver of the year, paraprofessional of the year, educator of the year, employer of the year volunteer of the year and more. These people were nominated by the entire Jackson County community.
Educator of the Year Award went to Grace Kruse, a special education teacher at Seymour-Redding Elementary School.
Another winner of the Educator of the Year award, Rilee Robinson. Robinson is a special education teacher at Brownstown Elementary School.
Paraprofessional of the Year went to Suzann Sorensen, who works with special education students at Seymour High School.
Paraprofessional of The Year Award also went to Jim Murphy, who drives bus No. 38 for Seymour Community School Corp.
Community service award went to Zach Spicer, treasurer and public relations for Special Olympics Indiana.
Community Service Award also went to Jackson Legg, a self-advocate board member who does a little bit of everything for The Arc, from sweeping to taking out the trash to shredding papers to helping plan for events.
Employer of the Year award went to Gabby Wilson, The general manager of Culvers in Seymour.
Caregiver of the Year Award went to Emma Callahan a direct service provider to those special needs individuals.
Caregiver of the year award also went to Lisa Whitson; Lisa works for Help at Home and is a board member for The Arc of Jackson County.
After the Awards were over, Caregivers and Clients of The Arc Received gifts for Christmas to take home.
In Conclusion, this non-profit works so hard to help those special needs individuals and some that go above and beyond to help be the advocate these people need in their lives. its great to see how some of these people despite their circumstances are able to live life all thanks to the Arc of Jackson County.
