In between photographing events and festivals i take on a few different photo opportunities. One of them i have done for a couple years in a row now and its traveling with the AHS Dimensions show choirs and documenting their competition season. I document that entire Saturday from start to finish including the behind the scenes because not everyone gets to see that part. This group is under the direction of Kathy Sego and comes with a lot of support from parent volunteers and a full band to accompany their performance. They have performed at several High Schools in Indiana including Lebanon, South Dearborn, Homestead, Huntington and Anderson. Throughout their season especially last year they have received the grand champion award and outstanding performer award numerous times.
So as soon as we arrive at the school, everyone starts getting ready for the performance by getting dressed and unloading equipment, and i go right to work. I start off with getting photos of the girls getting ready. I am around the room getting as many different types of images including mirror images which is really cool.
I include photos of the guys getting ready too, throughout this whole day i am going back and forth between both rooms to make sure I'm getting an even number of images and including everyone that I can.
After everyone is ready to go they transition to the practice room to do one last run through of their show.
Warm-up Practice session with the band. The Band is made up of several members, Bryon - Drums, Kevin -Guitar, Anthony-Saxophone Shelia-Piano Matt-Bass. This group practices this music weekly throughout the season with the group.
Performance Time!
Receiving the trophy
At The End of the night i try to gather everyone for a group photo with the trophy.
In conclusion, i enjoy getting to document this entire season for these guys and those involved. i do it all for the kids and everyone who is involved. at the end of the season they do one more performance for the public and one more for the school. At this time i started providing flash drive for the parents to have from throughout the season.
